A free LOS from your lender: what to weigh

Some wholesale lenders give brokers their own LOS at no charge. It can be a good deal. Here's what to think through before your whole pipeline lives in it.

Who offers one

  • Rocket Pro's Jupiter: free to Rocket Pro broker partners. It's built for submitting to Rocket, and the 1003 can be downloaded for other lenders.
  • Sphere: free for UWM partners through February 12, 2027. Sphere notes that excess usage or third-party fees may apply.

As reported in October 2026; check each lender for current terms.

What's good about it

  • No seat fees, which matters for a small shop.
  • Tight integration with that lender: pricing, submission, and status without retyping.
  • Sometimes free credit and AUS runs when the loan goes to that lender.

What to weigh

  • Your other lenders. A broker's value is shopping the market. How easily does the system price and submit to lenders other than its owner?
  • Pricing the borrower can trust. Under anti-steering rules (Reg Z ยง1026.36(e)) you must present loan options across lenders. Does the system make that comparison easy, or only for one lender?
  • The end date. A promotional "free" can end. What does it cost afterwards, and can you leave?
  • Your data. Your pipeline and borrowers sit with a lender that competes for the same borrowers. Read what the agreement allows.
  • Leaving. Ask for a full export (MISMO 3.4 for every loan, plus documents) before you depend on it.

A lender-neutral option

OpenLOS is free in a different way: open-source software you run yourself, owned by no lender and paid by none. It prices every lender you work with side by side, and ranks loans only by what the borrower pays, never by what you earn. It's alpha and lacks direct lender integrations, so many shops would run it beside a lender's system rather than instead of one. See the comparison, or how to switch without losing files.
